Acura’s unique combination of performance, luxury, technology and affordability is well represented in the 2018 Acura ILX sedan. It’s an ambitious sedan that offers a sporty driving experience and premium features. It has also been named “Best Choice for Safety” by the Road Safety Insurance Institute and has a solid reputation for reliability. If you’re looking for off-road traction in your small luxury sedan, you will not find it in the Acura ILX, but in your competition. Audi offers all wheel drive on the A3, as well as a more powerful 220 horsepower engine, and is available on the Mercedes Benz CLA 250.
Exterior and Interior
The exterior of the 2018 Acura ILX has a softened version of the company’s frontal fascia, a design that Acura has begun to abandon in newer models. On the side, the proportions of the 2018 Acura ILX are uncomfortable with its relatively low roofline and a useless upward curve at the waist. At the rear, the 2018 Acura ILX looks are gathered at the top and protrude under the bumper with two red reflectors located where two exhaust pipes seem to go. Order an 2018 Acura ILX with A-Spec look, standard with Special Edition packaging and optional with Premium and Tech Plus kits, and come equipped with a small spoiler, more aggressive body and 18 inch wheels . Instead of the standard 17s.
Inside, the symmetrical array of the 2018 Acura ILX includes most of the switches and controls in the center. It’s not the most imaginative aspect, but it does the job. In models with navigation, the control panel has two separate screens. Its design is not particularly elegant but works pretty well. Redundancy is not always a bad thing. The square vent vents on the dashboard in the passenger side glove box are less appealing. Unfortunately, the interior of the 2018 Acura ILX can only be wrapped in light gray and black anthracite interior shades, like those of most exterior colors. A warmer tan is available, but only with a white or red exterior and not with the A-Spec package.
All 2018 Acura ILX use a 2.0 liter 2.0 line with 201 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque. Maximum power is on at 6,800 rpm, but the standard 8 speed dual clutch makes it easy to reach that grunt. The engine is smooth and stops quickly, and the 8 speed gear has a torque converter that removes the edge of transmission changes. The levers of change are equipped with each 2018 Acura ILX and it is a pleasure to be able to follow their steps. Drag the transmission into Sport mode, hold the gears longer and make the descending gear changes with paddles when prompted. The 2018 Acura ILX ‘s strong three spoke steering wheel also suggests sporty handling, but unfortunately the power assisted steering is light and leaking too much from the road. In the same way, although the treatment of 2018 Acura ILX is certainly safe and secure, it is far from entertaining. The other side is a smooth and comfortable ride with standard 17 inch alloy wheels. However, opt for the A-Spec or Special Edition packages, and you’ll find 18s wrapped in a thin layer of rim that can reverse too many road noises and can react abruptly to imperfections of the road.
Price and Release Date
An 2018 Acura ILX base has a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of approximately $ 29,000, including a destination fee of $ 950. Savvy shoppers will upgrade to the 2018 Acura ILX special edition for just $ 800 more. And for an additional $ 500, you can add the AcuraWatch Plus package. The Premium Package models start at around $ 31,000 and the Technology Plus model at around $ 34,000. The A-Spec package adds $ 2,000 to the price of a Premium or Technology Plus model. The 2018 Acura ILX has a higher price than a Buick Verano, but it is also better equipped. It’s also thousands less than the Audi A3 or the basic model Mercedes-Benz CLA 250, especially when you start adding options to these other cars.
