Despite its sale since 2014, the 2019 Porsche Macan remains an enigma among its big SUV brothers, because while it offers a lot of convenience and family familiarity you expect from a car of this class, at the top of your to do list.
Exterior and Interior
The changes are important enough for washing the face. In the front, the 2019 Porsche Macan has won many features based on the 911. The headlights, for example, now have the four point LED lighting pattern that we have seen in any other Porsche currently available. These headlights are standard in every level of equipment. The entries below have also been reviewed. The central vent now has only horizontal battens, while the side spouts are larger and have wider battens. The smaller side openings below are also longer, while the central opening is almost perfectly rectangular. All these new elements give the 2019 Porsche Macan a broader and sportier position. Finally, the apron is wider and almost as clean as a divider in its own right. As usual, the profile is virtually identical with the exception of the wheels, which can be used in new designs and in sizes of 20 and 21 inches. You can also choose additional customization features, such as black bumps in the lower doors, black window moldings, or carbon fiber mirrors. On the back, the 2019 Porsche Macan remains unchanged above the taillights, but the latter is completely new. In addition to the recently introduced four point design, they also feature Porsche’s new three dimensional LED strip with “Porsche” lettering. We have seen this feature in 911 and Panamera and this is a sign that it is becoming a brand element for the German brand. The diffuser has also undergone minor modifications, but the most important is by far the new configuration of the exhaust pipe with round outlets on each side. Four new exterior colors are available for the revised 2019 Porsche Macan, including the cool Miami Blue you see here, the Mamba Green Metallic, the Dolomite Silver Metallic and the Pencil.
Updates in the 2019 Porsche Macan cabin are also important. The first thing that stands out is the new infotainment screen, which now measures 11 inches, four inches higher than the previous unit. The revised Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system provides access to new digital features, such as intelligent voice control and online navigation, and has allowed Porsche to remove some of the buttons on the center console for a cleaner look . In order to adapt to the larger screen of the central stack, Porsche also had to rethink and change the position of the air conditioning vents. While these flanked the screen in the previous model, they are now much smaller and are positioned just above the center console in the revised SUV. Another important change is the sportier GT wheel. Based on the sporty 911, the new steering wheel has been equipped with revised controls and can be equipped with a mode switch and a sports response button. Both are part of the optional Sports Chrono Package and improve performance while adding the analog clock to the board.
The updates under the hood are less important, or at least that’s what I draw from the press release of the company. Porsche only talks about an optimized chassis and a precise fit that offers “greater neutrality while maintaining stability and improving comfort”. The crossover also won newly developed tires that improve grip and lateral dynamics. There is no information on transmissions, which means that the 2019 Porsche Macan continues with the same engines. In the US UU., Autonomy starts with a turbocharged 2.0 liter four cylinder engine that generates 252 horsepower and 273 pounds of torque. With this engine, the 2019 Porsche Macan reaches 60 mph in 6.3 seconds and reaches a maximum of 142 mph. Fuel consumption is estimated at 20 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. The next is the Macan S, which extracts its juice from a 3.0 liter V6 and a twin turbo that generates 340 horsepower and 339 lb / ft of spin. Hitting 60 mph takes 5.2 seconds, while the maximum speed is limited to 156 mph. In terms of fuel consumption, the Macan S returns 19 miles per gallon combined. Macan’s GTS model is more efficient. Powered by the same engine as the Macan S, the GTS boasts 360 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. As a result, the 60 mph sprint drops to five flat seconds, while the maximum speed increases to 159 mph. Fuel economy remains unchanged. Finally, there is the 2019 Porsche Macan turbo, powered by a 3.6 liter V6 engine and a turbocharger. The crusher generates 400 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque, pushing the crossover from 0 to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds, to go with a top speed of 164 mph. This model can be equipped with a powerful package that increases production to 440 horsepower and 443 lb / ft. This model requires only 4.2 clicks to reach 60 mph, while the maximum speed is 168 mph. A diesel model is also available in Europe and other markets. There is a base model with 211 horsepower and 428 lb / ft and a more powerful version offering 258 horsepower and 428 lb / ft. Both are motivated by a 3.0 liter V-6 turbodiesel engine. All 2019 Porsche Macan models have a seven speed PDK transmission and all wheel drive. Options include air suspension and the Porsche Active Suspension Management System (PASM).
Price and Release Date
Porsche has not yet announced the official price of this updated 2019 Porsche Macan, but we expect a modest increase in the original car’s current price from £ 45,915 to around £ 47,000. At this price, 2019 Porsche Macan will remain an expensive option compared to its main competitors. Porsche generally does not offer discounts, so potential savings, even punctual ones, will remain low.
